Jacksonville cont’d …. Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens

We visited the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens on Tuesday afternoon and it was FREE! (Tuesdays from 4-9 p.m. – what a treat!). This a lovely, small art museum, with varied collections ….. but the gardens! how beautiful – set right on the St. Johns River (unfortunately with an interstate overpass close by). The live oak tree must be a couple of hundred years old, and I read somewhere that it is 80 feet tall with 138 feet span. Many of the lower branches have drooped to the ground and have formed their own root system, others are propped up or held up with guy wires.
