Another beautiful day slowly motoring through the canal and locks and taking in the countryside.
We were behind a large crewed barge (unlike ours which is crewed by us!)

Arriving in Clamecy we found the “Luciole” aground at the entry to the lock!

Our docking spot for the night.

Clamecy is another traditional French town with a medieval section near the church of Saint Martin. The town sits on the confluence of the Beuvron and Yonne, and is former capital of the timber floating industry. The statue of a timber getter (flotteur) waiting for the flow of logs or a raft on its way to the Seine and Paris.

The construction of the church began around 1215. It was consecrated to Saint Martin in 1448. The bell tower is an exact replica of the bell tower of the Cathedral of Nevers.

We had another delicious dinner “out” at the Hotel de la Poste.
