Our hotel, Villa Sarnia, was a converted 1880’s villa. So much charm and character and beautifully restored.

A huge front moved across entire Switzerland from Sunday evening until Monday night. We had a delicious dinner in the lovely setting of Taverna Alla. Dennis had slow-cooked beef with polenta and I had the local branzino (European bass).

We took advantage of a short break in the rain and drove over to Ascona – across the lake.

We had a very interesting evening at Ristorante Taverna – a restaurant perched above the lake with lovely views. Being a rainy Monday night we were the only patrons! We spent a couple of hours there eating and sharing stories, to include learning a lot about life in Switzerland, with the owner/chef.

Tuesday we set off in northeasterly direction. Unfortunately the San Bernardino pass was closed – likely the rain we had in the valley was snow on the mountaintops!

We made a detour from Switzerland for a quick stop in Vaduz, Liechtenstein and overnight in Feldkirch, Austria – a charming little medieval town.

Back into the German speaking area which makes life easier!
