Romadals Fjord and Åndalsnes

What better way to wake on our 41st anniversary than to scenery like this? It is just stunning!

Åndalsnes is often referred to as an “alp village by the fjord”, located by the Romadalsfjord beneath towering mountains in one of Norway’s most scenic areas at the mouth of the Rauma river. Åndalsnes is well known as «Norway’s mountaineering capital». When you see the rock faces, it is easy to understand why.

We took a bus trip along the twisty turning Trolligstigen road. Spectacular scenery with gushing waterfalls, rock faces, trolls, and the River Rauma. A road was built between 1905 and 1913 for people to bring their fruit and vegetables to market and to stock up for the winter. The paved road  officially opened in early 1930s.
