A lovely day to take a road trip to Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island for lunch at the Colonel’s Restaurant and then a visit to Asticou Azalea Gardens. What a treat! such a lovely quiet and serene place with beautifully kept gardens and gorgeous azaleas, rhododendrons and more!
Unlike some of my friends, I only go to the Common Ground Fair every three years or so .. not because I don’t like it, but because I have become shy of crowds, queues, traffic, etc. – especially in Maine. Anyway, it was good to spend some time there today, despite the cooler than forecast temps. My favorite demo is with the sheep dogs, and the apple tasting wasn’t half bad either!
Enjoying Belfast and Midcoast Maine, but also a short camping trip to Moosehead Lake with moose safari …

As part of a tour of the New England coast, the H.M.S. Bounty arrived in Belfast yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn’t see her arrive under sail, but Dennis and I took a walk into town yesterday evening where she was docked, and bathed in the beautiful golden light of early evening. It will be here through the weekend, and we’re looking forward to attending a cocktail party with music and a tour on Saturday evening.
