From Saigon we took a two-day trip on the Mekong. Driving to Cai Be we boarded a motorized sampan for a cruise to the floating market and through narrow waterways overhung with dense vegetation. We spent the night at a home stay, in a house on stilts, sleeping on cots under mosquito nets.
Along the way we saw the lotus (national flower) blooming.
