Hanoi

Another short flight to Ha Noi, the capital, and in my mind one of the most beautiful in the world. Despite urbanization and growth, It has a traditional small-town charm and has preserved the architectural legacies of its French colonial era, and maintained the parks and lakes that are scattered throughout the city. We stayed at the Hotel Metropole, which is probably one of the most luxurious and beautiful hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in – and – we stayed there for FIVE days!!!  BTW: none of the other hotels were too shabby!

First of all pictures of the beautiful Metropole …. unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of the magnificent breakfast buffet.

We started out by going to the old quarter – the district of “36 streets and 36 wares”. Fascinating!

Some of the more modern homes that are being constructed as the city grows outwards.

Everything happens on the streets of Ha Noi…

On of the parks – I got up at about 5.30 in morning to go see them doing Tai Chi and other fresh air exercises.

And the mopeds ….
