After a busy and fabulous Arts in the Park weekend (last), we’re enjoying the most glorious summer weather, the garden is looking beautiful, there’s a nice little breeze and I don’t want to go anywhere!

Food and Peonies round out June
The peonies have been spectacular this year! Strong, profuse blooms, and very fragrant. Peony perfection!
Maine Fare has grown into a foodie extravaganza! Perfect weather made for a great waterfront event in town. I really enjoyed the cooking demos by well-known local chefs.
Melissa of Primo’s talked about how their restaurant completes the circle of farm to table principles while she demonstrated cutting up a chicken and then prepared a delicious chicken Milanese topped with fresh baby arugugula salad.
Brian Hills, of Francine’s and Shepherd’s Pie made a wonderful dish of grilled fresh grape leaves stuffed with spiced ground lamb on lovage yogurt sauce. (The photo does not do it justice!)Yummy, yummy!

Winterscapes 2015
Winter has been a little more brutal than normal, but we still remain warm and cosy in our little house and enjoy the sunshine that pours in.
A new year …. a “fresh” start!
More fun times in Belfast with the Dutch….
We are so happy to have Agnita, Henk and the girls here again (before they return to Amsterdam:(
It was especially festive with the Arts in the Park weekend, being on the waterfront and all the activities surrounding the visit of the Lynx, and celebrating their 20th anniversary.
They are back on the east coast
Kat, Ian, Peter, Greyson, Colby, Lincoln and Moxie arrived back in Maine on Friday night – after three-and-a-half years absence. It’s good to have them here for a couple of weeks before they move to New Jersey.
Episode 2: The Dutch visiting Maine
Enjoying Belfast and Midcoast Maine, but also a short camping trip to Moosehead Lake with moose safari …
Summer fun with the Dutch
We’ve been kumi himo-ing, having fun with Lucy, and making pizza …. That’s so far! With doubtless more to come.
Documenting the Feb 2013 blizzard
The warnings started in earnest on Thursday that two weather systems (one from the south the other from the west) would be colliding somewhere around Boston and would create blizzard conditions for the northeastern U.S.
Friday – the calm before the storm and an opportunity to take Lucy for a walk down Robbins Road on a light coat of fresh snow.
The real snow was to start on Friday night into Saturday morning .. and it did!
Lucy was totally confused when none of the doors on the main level could be opened! but luckily there was only about 8″ of snow under the deck (from the basement door) and then someone kindly made a little tunnel for her.
A little sustenance was needed after all the snowing and blowing. Aah! a pot of black bean soup with odds and ends from the refrigerator!
And it continued coming down and blowing around until about 5 p.m.
Sunday morning brought a gloriously blue sky, a light breeze, and sunshine that created a myriad of crystals on the snow. Out with the shovels ..
We’re all shoveled out, so off down town to see how it looks there.
