we were treated to some lively music on the Stradun this morning and beautiful young women in traditional dresses handing out decorated eggs.
people watching in their Easter fashions was fun!
We had the lovely surprise of meeting up with Mira (from Bulgaria) our tour manager when we visited the Balkans (Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Albania) in 2023. She happened to be here with a Gate1 group! Small world!
We finished out the morning with a stroll to the water and finished with a delicious fresh seafood lunch at an outdoor restaurant.
our little apartment in the old town was so convenient for everything. Was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Downside was that it was up three (long) flight
we’ve enjoyed some fabulous meals here in Dubrovnik and would recommend all the restaurants.
Lucin Kantun – a small and intimate place with open kitchen on one of the side alleys off the Stradun. Dennis had the traditional beef Pasticada – a slow-cooked beef stew marinated in red wine and served with mashed potatoes, white I had a beef and pasta dish. Both delicious.
Carmen’s – go through a hole in the wall at the harbor which brings you to an alley and the restaurant – a very small place with homey atmosphere. I had a delicious mushroom and cheese dish and Dennis had bruschetta with burrata and pesto. Both yummy!
Rudjer’s – in the Ruder Boscovic square – a large, covered outdoor restaurant which appears to be more upscale, but the prices are not much different. I had the lamb pasticada with gnocchi which was so tender that no knife was needed, and Dennis had a wild boar stew with homemade pasta.
Soul Kitchen – a fun menu and a delicious variety of options. I had eggplant stuffed with couscous and Dennis had toast with Camembert and pear.
we ate at one other restaurant whose name I don’t know and it was rather nondescript food – I had grilled sea bass which was a little overdone,
After all that walking and climbing you deserved those great meals. So you are not traveling with Gate 1 this time, I suppose. Love Gate 1.
