This morning we visited the University Library rooftop gardens. Opened in 2002, the garden is accessible through an entry garden at street level. Access to the rooftops is by gently sloping winding paths and a set of stairs alongside a cascading stream. The rooftops offers great views of the city with the river and Praga on the east bank.
At noon we attended an organ recital at St. John the Baptist cathedral in the old town. Originally built as a wooden structure in the 13th century it has been expanded, remodeled and rebuilt. The last time following the total destruction during the uprising in 1944.
We met our group in the afternoon and walked back to the old town to hear music by Chopin played by Joanna Rozewska – an amazing performance. Dinner followed.
