Fly-a-thon

We started our fly-a-thon on Tuesday morning with a paddle jumper from Boston to JFK. Later that afternoon we boarded LOT flight LO007 for Warsaw arriving at 8 on Wednesday morning. Thankfully, I had booked a day room at the airport Renaissance hotel – what a blessing. A lovely room to chill and have refreshing shower.

At 4 PM we were ready to board our next leg of the journey LO191 to Tashkent. Even though premium Economy, not as spacious as on the Dreamliner. The six-hour flight was delayed a good hour while we waited for remaining passengers – the flight was surprisingly full.

I was wondering how we would fly to Tashkent while avoiding Ukraine. We took a route south and over Romania, Georgia, the Black Sea and Turkmenistan.

We arrived in Tashkent at 3AM on Thursday(EST+9) and crashed in our nice hotel room (Oscar Boutique Hotel). I learned my first Uzbek word from our cab driver- Rahmat! Thank you!

This morning we walked around this very clean residential neighborhood with small street markets, eateries, convenience stores, schools and parks – then came back to the hotel to enjoy a local tap beer. Life is good!

  1. I really don’t know how you do it! We just returned from our 4 weeks in Portugal including a two week cruise of the Azores and Canary Islands. We were simply exhausted by the end and had a horrible airport experience thanks to United.
We were also pretty exhausted by our trip, so many days on buses to see crowded sites.
Would love your advice for more pleasurable and less hectic travel. Or, maybe we’re just not as hardy as you two are!
