Life in the slow lane …

The morning started with coffee on the terrace while enjoying the magnificent Atlantic views and hanging out at our little Azorean cottage. The jasmine is outside the kitchen door and smells divine!

We took a good walk from “toca” down, down a steep hill to a view of the rocky beach with crashing surf which was even further down! Then a stroll through the village of Ajuda da Bretanha with a stop at the local cafe and grocery store.

This cute little windmill is up the hill from “toca”.

Having built up an appetite from all the hill walking, we headed over to Mosteiros to check out a restaurant I’d read about – O Americo- known for its fresh seafood. It was packed and we had to wait for a table, but it was worth it. I had the local lapas grelhadas – grilled limpets – with crusty bread and salad, while Dennis opted for a hamburger😫 we will go back to try the specialty – polvo asada- a stew of octopus and potatoes in what looks like a spicy sauce! I have convinced Dennis to share it with me!
