We hit a particularly clear and cold few days to explore Fairbanks and surroundings. On the plus side, there were no clouds to inhibit the aurora! On the minus – it was mighty cold!
We caught another sighting of the aurora as a plume danced right over our heads!

We attempted to find them again on our last night, but instead were gifted with a beautiful starry sky with just a hint of the lights.

We visited Fairbanks Distilling Company located in the former historic City Hall. I couldn’t resist the aurora cocktail – made with their own smooth 68 Below vodka (evidently the coldest it’s ever been in Fairbanks). The interactive cocktail changes hues with the addition of ??? A secret potion!

We visited the University of Alaska Museum with exhibits and film presentations about Alaska.

The university sits atop a hill overlooking the Fairbanks valley.

Oh, what fun. I am glad you got to see the aurora borealis. Dennis said if you didn’t see it he sending you out next time on your own. Love the photos!
Wow! Stunning photos.
Safe travels.
