Annecy, France

Our drive from Dijon to Annecy took us from the fertile plains of Bourgogne and Côte d’Or to the forested foothills of the Alps.

We made a pit stop at Jean de Losne with its lovely church and narrow winding streets. Today is May Day and a public holiday throughout Europe. People selling little posies of Lily of the Valley (for good luck) were on the roadside and in every village.

Annecy is an alpine, lakeside town in southeastern France – south of Geneva. It’s known for its Vieille Ville (old town), with cobbled streets, winding canals with crystal clear water, and pastel-colored houses – making it reminiscent of Venice.

We had delicious dinner at l’Etage. Le tartare de boeuf for me at Escalope Milanais for Dennis. Lots of people enjoying the beautiful weather at the lakeside park.
