This town is the best! And now we have a legit market hall – United Farmers Market – in the old Matthews Brothers building – what a transformation and fabulous selection of food, goods and produce.

Cooking Indian
What better past time for a dreary, drizzly day than cooking an Indian feast? With Gunjan Gilbert as our teacher, Nan, Lisa, Jeff, and I prepared: samosas, naan bread, lamb keema, cucumber raita, aloo saag, chicken makhani, mint cilantro chutney and fragrant rice!
Winter 2017 recap
Winter will be over by the time we return, so had to post a few reminders of Winter 2017.
We enjoyed the serenity and beauty of Stevens Pond in early December.
Some very frigid days in December – unusually early for those temps.
The downtown area is always so festive looking with wreaths and lights strung across the streets.
The Annual Polar Dip downtown at the boat launch was relatively balmy – especially for one who didn’t touch the water!! Always fun to watch my crazy friends!
We get out for walks no matter what the conditions! After all, Lucy is a Mainer-girl!
January was pretty uneventful with very little snow. And then … the day before Valentine’s Day Blizzard!
Bouquets from the garden – Spring-Summer-Fall
Family fun
Some of the grandkids, Lucy, Chris and Reuben from England …. so nice to be together for cookout, s’mores and croquet (on a parched lawn)
!
Our Dutch kids are here!
So happy to have our Dutch family here again – after two years – especially for pizza and ‘smores – a tradition!
Summer days in Belfast with the little guys
It was a beautiful morning for a walk to Steamboat Landing and the little guys walked from the footbridge to the boathouse. Lucy and Moxie enjoyed a cooling frolic in the bay.
Back home fun in the water continued ..
Belfast Summer Evenings – June
Another of those perfect summer evenings spent doing things we love in our home town, and where everyone and everything is bathed in the magical golden light of summer.
Starting out with ” lobstah” at Young’s – a traditional Maine lobster pound….
Followed by the weekly Summer Nights music at Steamboat Landing….
An evening stroll on the Harbor Walk and footbridge….
… back home…
Playing in dirt …
My sister tagged me on Facebook with this very appropriate quote ….
Spring checklist:
Manure and compost spread √
Gardens edged √
Weeded and new perennials planted√
Patio pots planted √
Patio furniture out√
Veg garden laid out and straw paths in place√
Onions, potatoes, brussel sprouts, kale, cabbage, swiss chard, egg plant, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, beans, peas, beets, lettuce planted or seeded√
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just sit back and watch it grow (without weeds!) for the summer!!!!
Weather and whatnot!
We’ve enjoyed a quiet time of being home and catching up on reading, doing taxes, and other fun things! (Like installing a long awaited stove vent hood!) Travel plans are completed (stay posted) and seed catalogues have been perused.
The weather has been mild, for the most part, and we’ve been able to enjoy walks, but today was the first time we’ve needed snowshoes! and that following Punxatawney Phil’s prediction of an early Spring!
Another great evening at Young’s Lobster Pound
Why don’t we come here more often???
Two weeks in August
A photo album of some of what’s been going on in the past two crazy weeks!
Kat completely tiled more than 1000 sq. ft of flooring – with the help of her brother at times. Ian was here for a week and clear cut a swath of saplings that were completely hindering a view of the pond. GG spent many hours and steps running after two active toddlers, wiping, laughing, teaching, feeding – fun, but exhausting. Grandpa worked and worked at the camp and wrestled with the kids, took the big boys for some spins in “the red car”. We even took time out for a quick sunset paddle!
