Switzerland

We’ve enjoyed being in Switzerland and passing from one region to another – all within a relatively short distance. The scenery is beautiful and there is a lushness to the shades of green that is everywhere – the forest covered mountainsides, the fields, the vineyards, the pastures where the docile cattle graze, and the patches of grass surrounding the dark timbered farmhouses.

We consistently attempt to avoid highways and take the slower routes on the small roads through villages and up and over mountains.

Unfortunately the highest mountains in the alps won’t be visible to us as clouds and intermittent drizzle has hung over the mountains this week, nonetheless the curtains of cloud create a feeling of wonder. What is up there? What is the shape of the top of that mountain? How high is it? Is it snow covered?

Everywhere we go and stay we are being served with big doses of hospitality and good portions of delicious food! our rooms have been spotlessly clean which soft white bed linens and sometimes the funky showers – like this one in Stansstad.

Next stop Lucerne!

  1. What’s the story about the bells hanging over the bed? Love the pictures, Chris. Thank you so much! I’m always eager for food commentary.
