Oaxaca Impressions

Our drive from Puebla to Oaxaca took us through mountains that very much resemble the area around Payson, AZ. We had a good view if Mexico’s highest mountain Orizaba at 18,000 feet.

Our lunch stop was at a fabulous open air buffet market. It was full of Mexican families out for Sunday lunch and offered an amazing assortment of dishes.

The bus dropped us at the edge of the historic center of Oaxaca and we walked the cobbled streets to our hotel – just dazzled by the brightly painted houses and businesses.

We were greeted at the hotel by a local dance troupe all wearing traditional clothing from the regions in Oaxaca state. One of the dancers is the wife of our local guide, Ivan.
