Up, up, and up

Across Route 188 a dirt track curls its way for nine miles into the Four Peaks mountains that are visible from the lake.

We took the Jeep and wound our way up and out of the hot weather into temperatures 20 degrees cooler at 5500 feet. The views of the lake became more expansive at each turn as if switching to a wide-angle lens, and the valleys below opened up defining the shapes of the hills and mountains. Evidence of the forest fire from several years ago that threatened the homes around and near the lake was still very visible.

Ffly enjoyed her daily dip upon returning to the lake .
