We started the day with a long walk on the beautiful white sands of Fort Myers beach.
We spent half a day exploring Pine Island – starting with colorful Matlacha where we had lunch at the Blue Dog Bar – fabulous coconut shrimp with Pine Island sauce (a sweet and tangy sauce) and grouper bites!
Even though the island isn’t beach lined and is mostly mangroves, palm plantations and natural pines, it was lovely to be in a more natural environment and what feels like “old Florida”!
We rounded out the day with another beautiful sunset.
