Kanapaha Botanical Gardens

We visited the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville today. The gardens have a large assortment of bamboo and a lovely bamboo forest. The name for the garden comes from the nearby  Lake Kanapaha. “Kanapaha” originating from two Timucua words for “palmetto leaves” and “house”.

I really wanted to see the giant Victoria water lilies, but they have not yet grown to their full size!

We appreciated dogs being allowed in the gardens, and Ffly is showing off her spanish moss coronet!

  1. What a wonderful excursion. I have wanted to have bamboo, but it is so invasive I could not build a barrier big enough. Ffly looks great with that mossy crown.

  2. All the photos are wonderful, as usually, however the one of Ffly and her moss rules. She is so beautiful!
